Hello, My name is LaTerika Wilson but I go by Teri. I currently
srve as the Program Manager of Youth Development at United Way of
Greater Houston and help manage the Houston out-of-school time
intermediary, Out 2 Learn. With nearly 15 years of experience in
education, I have dedicated my career to running innovative
out-of-school time (OST)/afterschool programs, grant management,
curriculum development, and building impactful partnerships. I began
my professional career in youth development at age 19 while working
for the ACCEL afterschool program in Austin, Texas. This is where I
discovered my love for creativity and professional development. I
also serve as
Co-Lead of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB)
Committee at United Way of Greater Houston and serve as the
Education Board Director for the nonprofit Sisters Empowering
S.I.S.T.A.S. that works with at-risk middle and high school girls.
Though Austin became a second home to me, I felt compelled to
moved back home to Houston after COVID because I wanted to make an
impact in my hometown. I've seen firsthand how the lack of resources
and access directly impacts communities especially the black and
brown communities. My life's mission is to be the person and the
change that I needed growing up and I am committed to ensuring that
everything I do has a positive impact and makes positive change.
