Domestic and Sexual Violence can not be tolerated in our community.
Over the last few years, nearly half the homicides in St. Tammany
parish are as a result of domestic violence. Not to mention the many
women and children living in fear every day. Dating Violence has
become more prevalent in recent years as well.
It is time we take
a stand against domestic, sexual and dating violence. We need to
educate ourselves of the warning signs, community resources, and
dangers of this terrible plague on our community. We need MEN, WOMEN,
TEENS, and CHILDREN to pledge they will help make our community better
by participating in the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Mandeville event on
October 29, 2023.
When you pledge to Walk a Mile in Her Shoes,
you walk for the survivors, you walk for the silent, you walk for the
victims, and you walk for all those women who may never have to live
through the anguish and fear of such abuse. Put on the shoes, make the
pledge and walk the mile for a better future.
By registering for
or donating to the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Mandeville event, along
the picturesque Mandeville Lakefront, you not only support the great
work and services of Safe Harbor Northshore, but you also receive an
official Walk a Mile t shirt, La Seafood Gumbo Cookoff entry, and
Abita Beer at our funtastic after party featuring live music at the
Mandeville Trailhead.
