The Small Manufacturers Institute (SMI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting California’s manufacturing sector through research, workforce innovation, and community partnerships.

SMI develops training models, job readiness programs, employer mentorship systems, and placement pathways that help students and job-seekers become reliable, high-value contributors to the region’s manufacturing economy.

Our work bridges education, industry, and workforce development to build a productive, resilient talent pipeline for California and the nation.

We are an ombudsman between the employer, applicant, student, school and government agencies.  The goal is to create new ideas that make the difficult task of engaging industry, more productive for all stakeholders.
