Why we started:
The King's Circle started June 25, 2005. The main focus was to have a time and place where there could be a group of sisters together in one room, just worshipping God - in songs and prayers! Women from all nations, all ages and all stages of life.
My vision is simple; to have a sisterhood of worshippers exemplifying what it means to truly 'Enjoy God'.
Concept:
- Praise and worship
- Giving back
- Helping and being their each other
- True friendship and sisterhood
The scriptures that inspires me till today for this group:
Matthew 18:20 - we don't have to be many; we just have to be there...
John 4:24 - when we are here, we will be with God's spirit and truthfully worship Him
My personal favorite - Psalm 100 - this is the reason why we exist....to Worship the King.
Ephesians 2:10: we were made to glorify God and doing the good things He has planned is part of our worship to Him!
We started with 4 sisters and now we are 33 active members in the Toronto area. With the pandemic and our prayer time going virtual, we are able to extend our participation to sisters/women in Nigeria, U.K, Ottawa, Montreal, Calgary and the U.S.
We still meet once every month and have been doing so since 2005 – 15 years and about 180 organized monthly meetings. This does not include the other prayer times such as “Hannah Corners” where there is a dire need and we fast and gather to pray. Many instances of fasting and praying for situations on the go!
In addition, we are engaged in Charity work and that arm of our group is called “In His Footsteps”. Some activities embarked upon are but not limited to:
- Food and toiletries baskets
- Financial Donation to the Barbados church
- Toiletries donation to shelters
- ‘Bag of warmth’ to the homeless (bags had a hat, pair of mittens, pair of socks, bottle of sanitizer, and pack of mask)
- ‘Samaritan walk’ – bought groceries and food gift cards to church and community friends.
- Storm relief - donated money to families of the recent Providence Island hurricane
We find time to do various fun things together as friends. We have been going on annual and sometime twice a year overnight retreats. ‘Just Because’ fun parties as we love to call it. Movie nights, picnics, fun walks and many more.
