Justice Bridge Japan is an independent initiative working to ensure that foreign nationals in Japan can access fair and meaningful support when facing the criminal justice system.

Foreign nationals in detention may struggle to understand legal procedures because of language barriers, limited access to reliable legal information, financial hardship, unstable housing, and difficulty finding appropriate professional assistance. These challenges can leave vulnerable individuals isolated and unable to participate fully in proceedings that may have a profound impact on their lives.

We focus particularly on people detained in connection with minor, non-violent offenses whose circumstances are closely linked to poverty or social instability. We believe that everyone, regardless of nationality, language, or financial situation, should be treated with dignity and have a fair opportunity to understand and navigate the justice system.

Our work includes connecting individuals with legal and other professional support, providing multilingual information, assisting with access to temporary housing where necessary, and building links with local communities and support organizations.

Funds raised will be used for multilingual outreach, public awareness activities, community engagement, professional coordination, and direct support for foreign nationals in vulnerable situations.
