The Runyn Pupykary Yawanawá Institute (IRPY) is a civil association founded by the Apurinã and Yawanawá peoples in November 2020 for non-profit purposes.
The IRPY was inspired by the dreams of the young Runymá, who in life was a young dreamer and mediator, with influence on her two peoples, being the only daughter of the union of an Apurinã leader (Antônio) and a Yawanawá leader (Letícia), who in life transmitted examples of charisma, unity, perseverance, humility and respect for both peoples.
As a medical student herself, she dreamed of providing well-being for indigenous peoples. The institute is deeply rooted in Runyn's dream and her struggle, as she is the greatest inspiration for our causes.
Our causes are geared towards the promotion and well-being of indigenous peoples. We aim to rescue our cultures, medicines, spiritualities and implement sustainable policies that will add knowledge and strengthen our indigenous youth, who often remain forgotten beyond our own eyes.
We want to work in harmony with nature and with sustainable projects. We will produce in our territories in our traditional and millenary way. We are rich, prosperous and blessed by the diversity and abundance of nature, we know that we can use our wealth in a harmonious way that does not harm and violate nature, because we are fully aware that its maintenance is fundamental and essential for the existence of life on our planet.
