My wife and I share computers and phones, which means a lot of things:

  1. We trust each other.
  2. We are lazy about walking to the other room.
  3. We get lots of ads actually meant for the other person.

Because of #3, Laura (the aforementioned wife) gets TONS of ads on her social media telling her they can "help her write a bestseller!" or "teach her how to do marketing for her books!"--the usual. She likes to click them. She likes to read them. She likes to scream something like, "AUGH! Another course being taught by someone who hasn't actually had success writing their own books! I mean, if they could write like a bestseller, and then market properly, why aren't THEIR books doing well?"

She usually screams this into the air (hooray!) then focuses on me (boo!) and shouts, "You should so something about that! You should teach people all the writing and marketing you've developed! Also, the trash needs to be taken out!"

I kid. Mostly (though really, the trash situation is getting pretty bad). My wife doesn't nag and scream, but she has told me for years that I should do a class on writing. Not one part of writing, but EVERYTHING--from concept creation to book publication to marketing and beyond.

And so I'm doing just that. Because I've had a pretty amazing amount of success as a self-pub author, and I'd love to see people get good, actionable information about their own careers. Also because I'm a good husband, and I do what my wife tells me.

Except for the trash thing.
