This year we are raising funds to support a school program for emotional and behavioural disorder students.  Your support is greatly needed, if you could donate $20 or more you will receive a tax donation receipt.  Your support is muchly appreciated.  The following is a note from the teacher:

As many of you know, I teach students with severe special needs (emotional and behavioural disorders) in a program for students grades 1-6. Our students come from families who have very little. For the last few years, my teaching partner and I have bought school supplies, snacks, food, and clothing using our own money, and as you can imagine, it adds up quickly. As well, the last three Christmases we decided that we wanted to create a “ Christmas Day” for our kids, because many of them are not fortunate to experience having a Christmas dinner and opening presents. With the help of so many generous and kind people, we were able to provide this experience for our kids, as well as make hampers for the most at-risk families.

For the coming school year (2021-2022), we have been so fortunate to partner with the Edmonton chapter of HOPE Worldwide Canada. They have graciously offered to organize the fundraising for these opportunities for our students, which include day-to-day snacks in the classroom, summer food hampers, school supplies, as well as our entire Christmas celebration (feast, stockings, gifts, and family food hampers). If you are wishing to contribute to our classrooms for this upcoming year and Christmas, you can now do so by clicking this link. They are holding an event called Hope in ACTION on June 19th where you can participate in a 5km walk/run, if you so choose, but you are able to just solely donate. Because this is a charitable organization, you would get a tax receipt as well if you donate more than $20!

If anyone would be interested in helping us with this, we would be humbled by your generosity. Each year, we understand that this is an ambitious task, but we want our students’ Christmas experience to be memorable, knowing the struggles that their families face at home throughout the year, and especially at Christmas time.
