I am not a daredevil or an adrenalin junky.  In fact, I'm a bit afraid of heights, but looking at everything that has happened over the past couple of years, much very good and some very sad, I'm grateful that there was never a time when I did not have a warm place to sleep, where I was unsure how I would feed my children or was fearful for the safety of me or my children at the hands of a family member or companion.  Sadly, that is not the case for many in Houston.  Thankfully, the United Way of Greater Houston provides access to information and services through 211, its free, confidential helpline.  So, I'm leaving my comfort zone - REALLY LEAVING IT - in order support The United Way of Greater Houston and its services by rappelling down the side of the Doubletree Hotel (26 story building!!!) on November 4th!
