Black families are abandoning public schools.
"Black families have become one of the fastest-growing demographics in homeschooling. And while white homeschooling families traditionally cite religious or moral disagreements with public schools in their decision to homeschool, black families are more likely to cite the culture of low expectations for black students or dissatisfaction with how their children—especially boys—are treated in schools." - Jessica Huseman

With the Thanksgiving holiday upon us, it's an ideal time for us to give back to the community. Howard County Homeschooling Community (HCHC) has organized a Meetup® on Saturday, November 28th, at the Central Branch library in Columbia, MD to assemble Blessing Bags for the homeless. Our goal is to show our children (by example) the importance of Community Service. This Meetup® is in preparation for our upcoming Winter Field Trip, where we'll distribute these Blessing Bags to the homeless. If you're unable to donate items or volunteer your time this Thanksgiving weekend, please show your support with a $10 donation. 100% of the funds received between Nov. 16th and 28th will go towards helping the homeless in our local area. Thanks.
