Since 2003, we have been committed to raising orphaned children into the leaders of tomorrow.
Each of our students go through these 3 phases to become difference-makers in the world.
- We rescue abandoned and orphaned babies who are in need of care through our Bethel Home ministry.
- We raise orphaned children who have no family to care for them in our My Father's House family homes.
- We prepare our young adults to navigate the school-to-work transition by mentoring them in the life skills they need to become self-sufficient adults.
Our Story
"Please don't build orphanages," a Zambian pastor Gary Schneider befriended in 2003 pleaded with him. "Help us create new families. Help us keep the orphans in a home, in the community where the Church is planted and where the children are known." As a foreigner in Zambia, Gary had no idea how to approach the challenges faced by hundreds of thousands of orphans left behind in the wake of the HIV/AIDS pandemic .
Not every orphan had a safe, stable, and supportive extended family member who was able to care for them, and adoption and foster care were not available options either. Thankfully, God showed Gary and the wise men and women in the Zambian church and community another way to model the family of God to orphans in need – My Father's House.
By pairing 8 orphans and a widow together in a new home, we've built and sustained 12 My Father's House family homes since 2004. Orphans and widows are forging a new life and new family together in Christ, in a home, and in a community where they are known and loved.
In the years since, God has added a baby rescue mission to our ministry and a college-2-career program as well!
