I have been a Volunteer with HOPE worldwide Canada for over 24 years. I am passionate about serving others who are in need, in whatever way I am able.

I have done volunteer work in New Orleans for 13 years ( Couldn't travel for last 2 years due to COVID-19), helping with rebuilding homes damaged during Katrina and other Catastrophic events there.

I have organized and with the help of other HOPE worldwide Canada prepared and served hot breakfast at the Salvation Army  3 times yearly. The families who partake in these breakfasts have come back to us at our serving station and expressed gratitude for a warm, cooked breakfast. They always ask when we will be back.

Along with my team of volunteers, we have prepared and delivered food hampers at Christmas and Easter and also Backpacks filled with school supplies in August of each year.

We organized Toy Drives at Christmas for the children in residence at the Salvation Army locations in Mississauga and Brampton. From this initiative, we were able to donate over 200 gifts bags and gift certificates to kids and teens at these shelters.

There is a real need  and a genuine cry for help. Many families have no option but to seek help from these shelters, sometimes to escape abuse from a partner or sometimes due to a job loss or other circumstances which deprive them of the ability to provide the essentials of life.

When these kids receive the Christmas gift bags or a backpack filled with school supplies, it brings them so much joy. Such simple gifts, ( things that many of us take for granted) but so needed and appreciated by them. I have received notes of thanks and appreciation from them.

Let's all get together and as one team we can help even one family, or one child in need.
