I have volunteered at the Windsor Cancer Centre for almost 11 years now.  I have had the privilege of meeting so many great people at the centre.  Folks from the outside cannot conceive how spending 4 hrs a week at the centre is often a highlight of my week, such a positive, incredible environment.  Everyone's journey is different, what can I do to help?  I can help make the most out of the present moment, that may come in the form of smile, a conversation, providing a snack, a warm blanket or directions - we do whatever we can to make the experience as positive as possible.

My dear friend and fellow volunteer Bill and I received the Community Champion Award last year from the Erie St. Clair Regional Cancer Program for our significant contribution in minimizing the impact of cancer in our region.  What an honour for Bill and I.  Sadly Bill passed away shortly after receiving this award, during his speech at the centre, he finished by saying at the end of each shift he would ask himself a question: 'did I make a difference today?'.  Those words will live on in me, making sure I make a difference in the lives that I am fortunate to touch. 

On June 22nd, I will be repelling down the CIBC Building in downtown Windsor as part if this Show Us Your Brave campaign.  Yes, in case you are wondering I am facing a big fear here.  I tell a story of attempting to walk across Devil's Bridge in Sedona, AZ some 15 years ago - well, I couldn't do it, I froze.  I think about it often, this will be a chance to push through that fear for an incredible cause.  I assure you I will not be this calm:
