The Nina Riggs Poetry Foundation is a non-profit organization founded to provide an annual award (or awards) to poets recognized for their illumination of the beauty, meaning, and precariousness of everyday life. It is named for the late Nina Riggs, a poet, writer, wife, mother, sister, and daughter, who died at age 39 from metastatic breast cancer. Nina was the author of The Bright Hour: A Memoir of Living and Dying, Lucky, Lucky, a chapbook of poetry, and other poems published in journals, including Cave Wall, the principal organizer behind the NRPF.
