As the weather turns colder in the Shuswap, more animals are left without safe shelter, reliable food, or warmth. Winter is the hardest season for vulnerable animals — the temperatures drop, food becomes scarce, and rescues are flooded with calls for help.

Shuswap Paws Rescue Society is one of the small, dedicated groups stepping in to provide emergency care, warm beds, full bellies, and second chances. Shuswap Paws Rescue Society is a registered non-profit society that is run entirely by volunteers. They are dedicated to rescuing, nurturing and rehabilitating animals to give them the second chance they deserve. Winters can be hard on local rescues and can stretch their resources thin. Vet bills rise, food costs increase, and the need for help grows at the very same time that donations often slow down.

This season I wanted to find a creative, heartfelt way to support them — something that would bring beauty into someone’s home and make a meaningful difference for animals in need.

Petals with Purpose:

That’s why I created Petals with Purpose, a donation-based art giveaway featuring two of my largest, most detailed pressed-flower originals. These pieces were made during quiet seasons of healing, and it feels right to let them bloom into something bigger than art alone. By offering these two artworks as part of a limited-entry draw, we can help raise funds toward food, vet care, medications, emergency shelter, and supplies that directly support animals during the coldest months of the year.

There will only be 100 tickets sold per artwork, keeping entries meaningful, fair, and small — and ensuring that this fundraiser remains high-impact and transparent.

This fundraiser is truly community-powered.

Every donation becomes a ripple of kindness that reaches real animals in real need — the cold, the scared, the hungry, the abandoned, the lost, the ones who cannot ask for help themselves.

What Supporters Receive:

As a thank-you for donating, supporters will be entered into a draw for one of two framed original pressed-flower artworks. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, created from real blooms grown and gathered from my backyard garden, purchased from local farmstands, harvested gently from nature, or gifted by friends — all pressed and arranged by hand.

There are two opportunities to win a Sown to Bloom original:

“Wildflower Dreams” (16x20) — suggested entry donation: $15
“Wildflower Wander” (22x30) — suggested entry donation: $25

Each $15 donation equals one entry for Wildflower Dreams.
Each $25 donation equals one entry for Wildflower Wander.

Only 100 entries will be accepted per artwork, keeping the draw small, intimate, and meaningful.

70% of all proceeds from this fundraiser will be donated directly to Shuswap Paws Rescue Society.

The remaining funds support the cost of materials, framing, supplies, and the many hours required to create these large originals. When the fundraiser ends, the total raised and the donation receipt will be shared publicly for full transparency.
