The Theatre & Arts Leadership Kouncil (TALK) needs your help to create our next event and to help us enrich and expand our arts-focused teen center, the TALK Box, where teens meet, create, envision and incubate ideas for arts-based, cultural events in the community.

TALK started in 2011 with 12 teens and incorporated in 2012 with a steadily increaseing number of teens who imagined an organization that empowered them to become difference-makers in their community through the arts. TALK has since enrolled over 130 teens who, with the help of TALK's adult mentors, have already envisioned and organized many very successful and impressive events. Events include feature-length theatrical performances, peformance art, concerts/music festivals, arts shows and poetry slams, to name a few. Most importantly, however, in the process, the teens have grown as leaders and developed valuable, transferable skills through hands-on, real-life experiences.

TALK has partnered with St Paul Community Church in the heart of Chicago's south suburbs to use a space that has great potential. But it needs supplies and we need capacity to keep the space open as often as possible. In addition to being an event incubator, TALK looks to grow and create a coffee-house-like space, with an art studio, a performance space and for various events (gallery, peformance stage, etc.) and a healthy, safe place for all teens to hang-out, plan their events, to do homework and/or to connect with a positive, adult role model.
