Hello, I'm Bridget Kish and I'm a parent of an athlete on the OJR XC and Track & Field teams. My daughter, Halle, is currently in her 3rd year on both teams.
Last year at the Track and Field District 1 Championship meet, a powerful storm rolled through destroying the team's already aging tent. This tent was replaced this year with a refurbished and somewhat dilapidated tent from many years prior.
The tent is used for multiple seasons and multiple teams each year, providing shelter and shade for both boys and girls teams in the fall for XC and boys and girls track and field teams in the spring. These successful programs are large and the current tent is old, in bad condition, and not adequately sized to shelter the large team.
We (a group of team parents) have reached out to several companies for quotes on a customized tent like most other teams have and are seeking donations so that we may purchase a new tent to be donated to the team and used for many years to come! Initial estimate for a 20X10 tent is $1200. Please know that a donation of any amount will help us to reach our goal and give our hardworking runners a well-deserved place in the shade!
(Please note that there is a very good chance that we will not have the tent before the current XC season ends but it is our hope to have it before the spring track season begins).
