Journey On designs community-based adventures and experiential education opportunities rooted in culture. Our work transforms the teaching and learning experience with explorations that develop social and emotional skills. On our Journeys, we work together to explore our community and try new things.

Journey On's most popular program is the Black History Adventure Course in the historic neighborhood around Independence National Park in Philadelphia. More than 500 students and teachers from Philadelphia-area schools have navigated the city in search of the brilliant contributions of Black Americans to our nation's history. It has been humbling and inspiring to receive such positive feedback from our participants.

Around the World in Philadelphia

In 2026, we launched an escape room challenge at the Penn Museum about a hidden Black figure in anthropology. Seeing the program in action led to a budding relationship with the museum for future programs. Journey On is excited to partner with the Penn Museum for the first annual community-challenge event, Around the World in Philadelphia, in fall 2026. Funding this program is our most immediate need.
