I am a 51 year old queer, trans, disabled, artist, activist, consent enthusiast, and therapist. My life has been full of amazing humans and adventures. I lived and traveled all over the US, I loved fearlessly and often, hosted consent workshops, created a small intentional community and led community grief rituals. I danced in the rain on a farm, gave people my poetry to read while they watched me graduate summa cum laude, and sang to many animals and plants.
In my career as an expressive arts therapist, I:
- prevented homicides and suicides
- supported children living in active abuse and women living in active domestic violence
- helped people who have experienced rape and trauma
- supported grieving children and families in a hospice program I made from scratch
Sadly I had to put that career on hold in 2012 when the building where I work was improperly renovated and made me very sick.
Since then:
- I experienced multiple years of homelessness and living on less than $500 a month
- I expanded my identity and learned about disability pride and disability justice
- I became an herbalist and an advocate for personal health agency
- I am an environmental and disability justice activist
- I love participating in mutual aid and peer support
From 2017 to 2024, I lived in a very toxic low income building where my physical well being plummeted and my social support system evaporated. I knew isolation long before pandemic lockdown.
NOW I :
- offer peer support in the style of radical therapy for anyone but especially queer disabled people with complex PTSD
- am starting to craft a project to provide access and consent based immersive theater experiences for disabled people
- want to create intentional community and housing for disabled queer folks experiencing homelessness and unstable housing
- ended up in another moldy place I must leave asap!
- am getting sicker each day I spend where I am - which makes it harder to act to help myself
- need to shed 90% of my belongings a second time!
I cannot do any of the things I love while my own safety and health is at risk.
You can help by giving and sharing!
Goals
Temporary housing:
I need to move out asap so my hosts can remediate their home for mold and so I can start to heal again.
I need to cover the cost of pet friendly, fragrance free, mold free hotels, air bnbs or short term sublets so I can get things together for next steps.
As of yet I have not found anywhere to stay that is free of mold, and fragrances. The places I have found that come close cost around $300 per night.
Tiny Home on Wheels:
However I slice things it looks like I need a home that can go places - in case I need to retreat from wildfire smoke or so I can get to desert towns and assess whether they are good places for me long term. I think the cheapest, most efficient way to do this is a cabover camper build on top of a pickup truck. I can’t afford to do this right now but with your help , I can have much more say in what happens around me and this can keep me healthy for years to come!
A used truck costs around $20,000
Building out a diy cabover camper will cost between $10,000 and $20,000
