Employees of the biopharmaceutical company Bristol-Myers Squibb took part in the European Country 2 Country 4 Cancer bike ride fundraising campaign, pedaling over 3600 kilometres from Germany to the UK.

They’ve chosen to donate funds raised by their ride to Cancer52, and they’ve had incredible success - raising £13,834 to support Cancer 52’s mission of giving a voice to those suffering from rare and lesser-known forms of cancer.

Here’s how they did it:

Participatory, peer-to-peer fundraising model makes raising money fun, interactive and engaging

✅ The power of partnerships: more money was raised by working with Bristol-Myers Squibb than if the charity appealed to individuals on their own

✅Storytelling: the campaign shares lots of background information about the severity of cancer worldwide, and Cancer52’s specific mission

The Angkor Wat International Half Marathon is raising funds to support the Angkor Hospital for Children. Now, Manulife Insurance has stepped in to sponsor and back the marathon, matching donations and encouraging employees to run - and donate.

The campaign has raised an incredible $85,391 - including $14,900 of matching donations directly from Manulife!

Here’s how they did it:

✅ The half-marathon charity model is a fun, participatory way to raise money

✅ The power of partnerships: Manulife’s backing brought attention, power and extra funds to the campaign

Storytelling: the campaign shares pictures of the children helped by the hospital’s programs, as well lots of background information about the programs in several languages

The Hans Andersen Club supports children and parents regardless of their race, nationality or religion, offering after school care programs and helping youth engage with local culture through Cantonese opera, singing, dance, martial arts and other activities.

In 2017, French financial services company Societe Generale set out to raise funds for the Hans Andersen Club through the Asia Pacific Bike Ride, their annual international charity event. Their employees took part in a two-day cycling trip across Thailand - and they raised a staggering $394,343!

Here’s how they did it:

✅ Building fundraising into a fun company trip

✅ Harnessing the power of a large financial company for charitable good

✅ Limited-time campaign creates urgency
