Jaxon Howard and Family Are Back to Continue Long Standing Christmas Tradition of Providing Meals to Minnesota Families
Minneapolis, MN - MN Gopher redshirt freshman defensive lineman and Minnesota native, Jaxon Howard, along with his father, Willie, and, his sister, Aeyva will continue a Howard family Christmas-day tradition of ensuring that families in their school district have meals for the holiday season.
“I’m extremely excited to be back in my home state of Minnesota to carry-on our Howard family tradition of making the holidays brighter for as many families as possible. Some of my fondest childhood memories are driving around on Christmas morning with my Dad and my sister delivering turkeys to people that really need them,” Howard said.
Last year with Jaxon being in Louisiana they weren’t able to deliver Turkeys but were able to hand-deliver Gift Cards to cover Christmas Dinner expenses for 120 Families. Although meal prices have gone up we will still try to meet our goal of $7500 to feed 100 families.
For people wishing to help the Howard family with their mission, donations of any amount are welcomed and appreciated. $15 covers a side dish, $25 covers the cost of a turkey or ham, $75 sponsors one family, $300 sponsors four families, and all donations can be made directly through Howard’s FundRazr
In May Howard transferred from LSU to come home to play for the Gophers and be back in his community. This year Jaxon has played an instrumental role on the team as they finished with a 7-5 record and are awaiting their bowl location for Bowl Season. “Whether he was in high school or now in college, one of the things that has always stuck out for me is that Jaxon has a huge, huge heart,” said Blake Baratz, Founder of IFA. He continued, “He is incredibly thoughtful and is always trying to help others which is truly what using your platform is all about.”
Howard officially committed to play at LSU on July 1, 2022, after narrowing his decision down to four of the nation’s top college football programs, LSU, Miami, Michigan and Minnesota. In all, he received over 60 Division I offers before deciding on the Tigers. As mentioned above he then transferred to Minnesota in May.
The number one football recruit in the entire state of Minnesota for the graduating class of 2023, Howard, 6-4, 240, also ranked 9th regionally, 18th positionally among other defensive ends, and 121st overall according to the ESPN 300 recruiting database.
