Smiles was among the 13 dogs left alone after their caretaker was incarcerated. At the beginning on Nov, Smiles was struck by a car and have suffered a bad injury to his left rear leg. His caretaker couldn't afford to get him to a vet, so he opted to do home care instead.
At the least, Smiles has suffered a fracture to his leg, it could even possibly be broken. Only xrays and a full exam by a vet will reveal the true extent of his injuries.
In speaking to our vet, we were able to obtain a rough estimate of the vet care expenses that Smiles will need. This includes xrays, pain meds and the restting of the leg, if indeed it is broken. If left untreated, the bone in Smiles' leg will not heal properly and could cause him much difficulty throughout his life. He does appear to be in a lot of pain, so getting him his needed vet care ASAP is a must.
