UPDATE Butterscotch had her surgery yesterday. She had to have all
of her previous spay undone as it was discovered the materials used
might be causing extreme irritation and it was tied off incorrectly.
When checking the vulva inside there was found numerous cauliflower
like masses which also may attribute to the constant bleeding each
time she urinates. A biopsy is being performed but may take up to 2
weeks to get results. Sadly Butterscotch is not out of the woods yet
and she will likely need further attention. Please help us continue

n May of this year, Tucson Cold Wet Noses, a 501c3 non-profit
dog rescue, helped us rescue our sweet foster pup, Butterscotch.
Butterscotch was taken in off of the streets by a kind woman in
Mexico, but she could no longer keep her and the shelter there had
shut down. Butterscotch’s only means of survival was to come to the
U.S. for a better life. Once safely in our home, she started
bleeding as though she needed to be spayed. Our veterinarian
determined that she had, in fact, already been spayed, and yet she
was still bleeding. Despite numerous urine samples, blood draws, and
other diagnostics to discover the cause of the continued bleeding,
we find ourselves faced with the only remaining option of
exploratory surgery. Our veterinarian suspects that Butterscotch’s
uterus was not fully removed during her initial spay, which would
explain the continued bleeding. We would love for this surgery to
give this girl the best chance at finding her fur-ever home.
The estimate we were given, in addition to the cumulative cost of the previous procedures, totals at about $2000. With over 80 dogs currently in their care, this amount of money is a large burden for the rescue to dedicate to one dog.
