This little girl came to us 2 days ago under the impression that she was EXTREMELY pregnant. She's been very fearful and shut down so we didn't prod and poke too much.

This morning her breathing was very labored, we assumed she was going into labor. As we do with moms getting close to delivery, we took her temperature. It was 105.7!

We raced her straight to our wonderful veterinarian assuming she was dealing with pyometra rather than being pregnant. She was rushed into emergency surgery. Upon being opened for surgery it turned out that pyometra wasn't the problem but her bladder is.

There were no obstructions so her bladder had to be cut open and squeezed to empty it from the stored urine and infection. She is on several medications, including one that we hope to fix this little angel up. It seems that Reba's bladder muscles weren't contracting in order for her to urinate so her bladder swelled large enough to give her the appearance of being heavily pregnant. The one medication should help her muscles learn to contract so we can begin working on getting her bladder to return to it's normal size, or as close as possible.

A copy of the bill for the surgery is in the pictures as well as a picture of the bladder prior to it being emptied.

She's not out of the woods but this is the biggest step in the right direction.
