As you may be aware, we are facing the imminent demolition and then rebuilding of our GLP Sanctuary recovery room.
We had the good fortune of selling one of the sanctuary villas to a lovely cat loving couple which in extension helped us buy the farm in Denmark, but as part of completing this sale of the sanctuary villa - we were faced with the task (unknown to us before then) of an engineer team redrawing the land to parcel out the villas individually. When they came to redraw the land they pointed out several 'illegal' structures - something that came as a complete surprise to us as our houses were done officially through Greek architects and officially stamped and approved. We've since come to learn that this is quite common Greek practice and is what can best be described as "It's all Greek to us" - put differently... it's exasperating!
We now face several structures having to come down and worst of all is our cat recovery room. With your help we had already started an upgrade of this room 1 1/2 years ago when we had the first steps of a bathroom installed. We've dreamt for a long time that we could turn this into part recovery room, part volunteer room (it's a large room).
BUT MOST URGENTLY... we need to cover costs to have the recovery room demolished and then rebuilt. We simply cannot do without our recovery room and it's currently at max capacity with recovering cats and cats waiting for their adoption trip.
It is an incredibly frustrating task but we cannot complete the sale of the villa and get the money that is due to us for the sale before this demolition work has been done and the engineer can prove with photos that it's no longer there. As Greek madness will have it, we are then free to rebuild it.
Yes we have already disputed this, but according to Greek law there is nothing we can do about it.
CAN YOU HELP US RAISE THE 12,000 EUROS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THIS JOB??
We've searched for the cheapest possible offer for the demolition work and it will cost 2,900 euros. Then we are faced with rebuilding the structure and we have an offer of 9,000 euros. We therefore urgently need 12,000 euros - money that neither we personally OR the charity have.
We have no other option that trying this way to raise the funds and hope you'll help us get there.
