My name is Manichanh. I am a PA-C in emergency medicine that supports non-profit groups in marginalized regions. For decades, NGOs have been supported in the USA, Nigeria, Mexico, & Guatemala. Recently, there has been a shift providing support during crisis responses. I live a simple life and invested much of my earnings in program development. Believing people are the best investments. Prior fundraisers have gone directly to the NGOs, allocation of funds has become challenging in recent years so I’m reaching and hoping for additional support. I
In Ukraine, 10 million civilians have been displaced. 20% of the country is now occupied by foreign invaders with about 40,000 civilian casualties. This number may be skewed as teachers, cooks, drivers, have all joined the fight. Civilian men and women who have become soldiers and medics to combat the invasion. Everyday people that are being forged by difficult tasks and horrific circumstances. They represent what we are all capable of. Frontline Medics is an NGO with an ethos that is aligned with my values. Frontline Medics provides emergent services to those most in need by providing critical stabilization and evacuations of both civilian/military victims in conflict zones. Where our fellow persons are literally placing their lives on the front line to protect their homes, loved ones, and their country. Knowing this, it’s become increasingly difficult to stand on the outside while being drawn to the right side of history. Being drawn towards humanity. Knowing we all have the capacity to support one another. There are regions of the world where we know help is needed and support is suppressed. But we believe we must support each other not only where we can, but whenever we can. This is the time and place that has chosen us. Knowledge of what is occurring, combined with empathy has become like gravity.
In a few weeks, time will be spent supporting emergency medical
teams and international volunteers providing care for traumatic
injuries at stabilization points and extractions in battle zones.
Resources are extremely limited. Please share your support to offset
the personal cost of obtaining needed medical supplies, travel, and
daily expenses while volunteering with Frontline Medics and the
people suffering from war. Help is needed for the following.
- Assistance in covering the cost of transportation from Western USA to Poland. After that a three day train ride to Eastern Ukraine. Estimated cost is $1500 round trip.
- Daily cost of living and essentials including food rations to maintain health. Estimated $250 per month.
- Cost for mandatory personal ballistic protection. Current cost is $ 3,007.00 USD
- Trauma bandages and mylar blankets. $900
- Required clothing (mostly 2nd hand/surplus purchased). $350.

There is also beauty where there is despair.

We are all small parts of the same thing. All connected and interlaced with one another.
So when you recognize their fear. Embrace them with hope. When you feel their turmoil. Share your calm. When you sense the darkness. Share the light that is within you.
Make that final choice, where hope can be vulnerability or armor.
