In recent years, the need for advocacy to protect exotic animals and their owners has become pronounced in the United States. Government policies are targeted in preventing the care and love owners share with some of these wild animals. Argument against the ownership of such wild animals are based on argument that 30,000 large exotic animals are currently been held in captivity outside the zoo environment. Furthermore, such large exotic animals that are non-US are known to receive lesser care which goes on to affect their healthy and psychological lives. Some of the above arguments are grounds to discourage the ownership of these wild animals. However, The New York State for Exotic Animal Ownership (NYSEXOTICS) operations, especially in its education activities would help in enlightening the public on ways to cover these shortfalls.

We champion the creation of private, responsible animal-related businesses, and advocate for these businesses, amid unsound decisions and actions made by government. It is also within our operations to protect exotic animal owners and seek solutions for problems often originating in the industry strain which seeks to extend government interests at the expense of animal-related businesses and their right to exist.

The NYSEXOTICS is a public advocacy group with the aim of advocating for the voice of the unheard, especially making meaningful efforts in challenging state actors influences which seek to end the private ownership of exotic animals and private possession of wildlife. With this move we look at making effort to ensure public policies are favorable to the welfare of wild and exotic animals in captivity, their treatment in the wild, as well as the treatment of exotic animal owners and those who possess wildlife such as wildlife rehabilitators.

Although we may be focusing on New York, as far as state-level issues are concerned, we are also seeking to change matters on a federal level which will affect people all over the country. We hope to have more "focal groups" for other states if they want to seize the opportunity to become a sub-chapter with us under a more generalized name (such as "America for Exotic Animal Ownership", etc.).

The funds we seek will be used for education, in regards to the regulations for New York and on the federal level, as well as informing the general public, as well as the industry members about happenings occurring in the industry, such as current events.
