Request for financial help Assyriska FF - the national team of Assyrians!

This is to ask for your consideration to financially support one of the most important institutions we as Assyrians have in our quest for recognition and awareness of the Assyrian cause. Urgently the club needs 150.000 USD by March the 6th 2017 to survive by avoiding bankruptcy. We have set the fundraising target here at 30.000 USD although the need is much bigger. 

Summary

Assyriska FF - the national football team of Assyrians worldwide is financially in a very tough situation. We need all help possible to avoid bankruptcy. Assyriska today plays in the third league in Sweden and has been in the top leagues for over 15 years. We are daily taking care of 500 youths, most of which are Assyrians. We also support integration by helping fellow Assyrians from our areas in the Middle East, most recently from Iraq and Syria. 

Background/achievements.

Assyriska FF can be one of the most important institutions for the Assyrian nation. Assyriska has proven before how much attention and awareness we can drive, educating people throughout the world about Assyrian history and identity. Football (soccer) is by far the biggest sport worldwide, over 300 million people worldwide watch the Champions League final, a tournament we could with the right work and support play in within 6-10 years.

History & present

Assyriska FF in Södertälje Sweden was founded by Assyrian immigrants in 1974. We advanced very fast to professional level. Many Assyrians view Assyriska as the national team. From Australia to Germany to USA we have supporters following the team. We activate 500 youths daily in our teams, most of them being of Assyrian origin. We help in matters of integration and social responsibility. For Assyrians and for the city of Södertälje we are taking an active role to get kids to stay out of drugs and violence.

Our vision

In Sweden Assyriska shall be a positive force in Swedish soccer and also a leading example in multi ethnicity and social responsibility within the Swedish society.

Assyriska shall work to drive awareness about the Assyrian identity by playing in highest possible level, preferably internationally.

The financial situation and consequences

The financial situation is very tough and we are facing bankruptcy. We have set in place an action plan which we intend to implement in 2017 and onwards that include the following:

• Financial respnsiblity by not planning and spending above our abilities.
• Massive reduction of budget for our first team
• Cost efficient mindset for entire organization.
• Strengthened marketing organization in order to attain more sponsors in 2017 and onwards.

These are the consequences Assyriska and Assyrians will face if we are able to regulate the debt mainly to the tax authorities by March the 6th  2017:

• Assyriska will be relegated to the last league in Sweden and it can only theoretically come back after 6 years to current level.
• 500 youths soccer careers are at risk as no club in Södertälje will be able to absorb all these players.
• Assyrian youths have to play for other clubs, if they find any.
• One of the most important Assyrian symbols will no longer be present.
• 40 years of hard work will vanish.
