In recent times, women’s rights have faced significant challenges, with legislative, social, and cultural battles threatening the hard-won progress that has been made. In light of this growing adversity, I have made the decision to raise funds for the North Shore Women’s Centre (NSWC), an organization that stands as a beacon of hope for women and gender-diverse individuals in North Vancouver, BC. By contributing to this cause, you’re helping to create a small but powerful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Why I’m Raising Funds
The past few years have seen the erosion of many women’s rights, as well as a rise in incidents of gender-based violence and systemic discrimination. As someone who believes in equality and justice, I feel compelled to act. The North Shore Women’s Centre plays an essential role in supporting women in need and advocating for the advancement of gender equality in the face of these growing challenges. The Centre’s commitment to improving the social, economic, legal, and political status of women is something I deeply admire, and I want to help them continue this important work.
What the North Shore Women’s Centre Does
The NSWC is much more than just a place of refuge; it is a vital resource for women and gender-diverse individuals navigating life’s many challenges. Located in North Vancouver, BC, the Centre offers a wide range of services designed to empower women and ensure they have the tools they need to succeed:
-
Empowerment and Resources: The NSWC is dedicated to providing women with access to resources that help them make informed choices about their lives. Whether it’s providing educational materials, legal assistance, or simply a listening ear, the Centre is there for women at all stages of life.
-
Addressing Violence Against Women: The NSWC actively addresses violence against women at all levels of the community. From providing emergency support to offering long-term solutions, the Centre works tirelessly to ensure that women feel safe and supported.
-
Fighting Sexism and Discrimination: The Centre is committed to challenging and combating sexism, discrimination, and prejudice in the community. Through outreach, advocacy, and activism, they help create a culture of respect, inclusivity, and fairness.
-
Eliminating the Feminization of Poverty: The NSWC works to tackle the feminization of poverty, supporting women in overcoming financial hardships and finding pathways to independence. By addressing the root causes of economic disparity, they help women and gender-diverse individuals achieve greater financial security and freedom.
Importantly, the NSWC is inclusive and welcomes women and gender-diverse individuals, including those who identify as trans, Two-Spirit, and/or non-binary. It is a safe space for all who face discrimination or marginalization due to their gender identity.
How Your Donation Helps
Your contribution will directly support the services provided by the North Shore Women’s Centre, helping them continue their work in empowering women and challenging societal injustices. Whether it’s funding programs for survivors of domestic violence, offering legal resources, or ensuring that every woman has access to the support she needs, your donation is a small but significant step toward change.
Together, we can make a real impact. Every donation, no matter how small, helps to ensure that women and gender-diverse individuals have the opportunity to thrive, not just survive.
Join Me in Making a Difference
I truly believe that by supporting organizations like the North Shore Women’s Centre, we can help shift the conversation, fight against inequality, and create lasting change for generations to come. The Centre is already doing incredible work, but with our support, they can do even more. Together, we can stand for equality, justice, and empowerment.
Let’s make a difference, one donation at a time.
The Why.
Everyone has something they’re fighting for. Knockout for A Cause unites individuals, fighting for individual causes, but fighting as part of a team.
Knockout For A Cause is the North Shore’s first ever boxing fight night of its kind, featuring a wide range of contenders representing every industry. Coming together from a diverse set of backgrounds and experiences, contenders train for one reason: to support the community, and the causes near and dear to them.
The How.
Anyone living in North Vancouver/West Vancouver, or working in North Vancouver/West Vancouver, can apply to be a contender, and fundraise in Knockout For A Cause. KFAC welcomes participants who have no boxing experience [or basic, beginner-level boxing experience], and are ready to start the journey to step into the ring. To qualify for a fight, contenders are expected to raise a minimum of $2,000 for their designated cause, which can be selected from the list of participating organizations. Raising the minimum amount does not guarantee you a fight, rather makes you applicable for one. Fight match-ups are contingent on registered contenders, experience levels, training, and a variety of many other factors. KFAC is a high-intensity training process, and contenders commit to being in the gym, fundraising, and putting in the work. Contenders are expected to attend a minimum of three classes per week, in order to accomplish all of the respective Boxtech® Glove System Wrap levels, and related Boxtech® testing dates.

Fund distribution.
![]() | The unique component of Knockout For A Cause which differentiates it from other fundraising initiatives: Knockout A Cause gives contenders the opportunity to fight on behalf of the causes that mean the most to them, as opposed to a pre-designated organization. Contenders can select the organization where they have a personal connection, and a cause that resonates with them and their community. Contenders can choose to fundraise for any of the participating North Vancouver and West Vancouver organizations/non-profits. Meet them here: https://griffinsboxing.com/knockout-for-a-cause/ After minimal administrative costs [for donation processing on this site], 100% of funds raised will be directed to the contender's organization of choice.
