TBCC Chamber Choir Needs YOUR Help to Get to Nashville in 1 Month!

We are the Chamber Choir of the Toronto Beaches Children’s Chorus. The choir has been selected as one of 4 choirs to attend the prestigious Crossroads Children’s Chorus Festival in Nashville, TN, USA. We have been working very hard to raise money and need YOUR HELP to get us to Nashville and represent ourselves, our city and our country to the best of our abilities! We are the only international choir taking part!

About Us

The Toronto Beaches Children's Chorus was founded in 2006 by choir director, Bronwen Low and in short time has grown to 4 levels of instruction. The choir provides both vocal and dramatic training, in a fun and supportive environment. The children learn a variety of music from all different genres, and enjoy bi-weekly drama classes with actor Joanne Mitchell. At TBCC, our goal is to foster the love of music and drama in our choristers and to help build confidence in each of our members. We offer many different performance opportunities including a fully staged musical every spring!

The Chamber Choir that will be attending the event in Nashville consists of children ages 12 and up. This is our oldest division at TBCC, and the kids are clearly dedicated to their art. At TBCC, we never turn a child away and aim to have a warm and welcoming learning environment for all our kids! To keep in line with this mission, we need your help, so that all our members can attend!

What We've Been Doing and Why We Need YOU!

The cost of the Crossroads event plus transportation is US$2,800 per person. We have 25 choir members, the choir director and 4 chaperones attending the event; all must pay the full fee for the 1-week festival. This means that the total cost is approximately US$81,000!!! Since we first found out that we were accepted the Canadian dollar has fallen considerably against the U.S. dollar from about par to its current level further increasing our costs!

Our hope was to raise money through our many efforts to bring the cost down to about US$1,500 per person; the full cost is financially difficult for most families to bear. We have held 3 concerts, 2 shows, held bake sales, bottle drives (taking empty bottles back for deposit), toilet paper sales (yes, we sold toilet paper and raised money!) and will be holding another concert on June 14. We have tapped our choir and extended community quite considerably over the past 6 months and we now need assistance from beyond. That's where YOU come in.

This festival is a chance for the kids in the choir to meet other choirs, learn and sing with them from accomplished and acclaimed musicians, directors and singers. The experience will be one that will stay with the kids forever. Any help YOU can give to benefit these kids and get them all to Nashville would be greatly appreciated.
