bamBOO is a 4 year old plain-Jane Tucson Brown Dog. While there's nothing particularly special about her on the outside, she has a heart of gold. And she needs our help.

Boo spent several weeks at Pima Animal Care Center after being surrendered because of the family's financial situation. She was lucky enough to be adopted by a very kind woman. Boo was taken right to a vet, where she was diagnosed with mammary cancer. It was more than her adopter could take on, and Boo was returned to PACC.

Thanks to Tucson Cold Wet Noses who agreed to cover her surgery, Boo only spent several hours back at the shelter before going to a foster home. Boo was put on meds to beat her kennel cough, and surgery was to be scheduled as soon as she was cleared. Boo was doing well until Tuesday 05/14 when she was acting a bit 'off' --- it quickly became obvious that Boo had suddenly went blind.

Boo was taken in to the vet first thing the following morning and was diagnosed with diabetes. She was placed on insulin and a prescription diet. After a couple of days of doing well, she crashed and had to spend 36 hours at Southern Arizona Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Center for hypoglycemia. We went through a very scary period not knowing if she'd pull through, but thanks to the awesome care she received, she recovered and is back in her foster's home. Unfortunately, that hospital stay alone set the rescue back $1577.

bamBOO's prognosis is good -- but she needs careful monitoring and continued veterinary care. She is proving to be a much larger expense than we originally anticipated, and we need your help to ensure she gets the best of care. This girl is long overdue for a turn of luck.

All of these costs exclude her special diet, rechecks, and other expenses. We really need help. Her costs will far exceed the $1500 we are asking for, but that amount will go a long way in alleviating some of the strain her bills have placed on the rescue.

bamBOO is gentle, patient, well-mannered, good with other animals, good with children, and simply one of the kindest dogs you'll ever meet. If ever there was a dog deserving of being helped back to her feet, it's Boo. She handled her vision loss with a wagging tail, and doesn't let her problems hold her back.
