This elder solo expedition 2027 will see elder Mike and his companion Lucy (the dog) set sail from Montreal on a 7,000-nautical-mile journey to the remote coastline of Northern Labrador, sailing through the Northwest Passage, around Alaska and then south to Vancouver. This is more than a solo sailing expedition—it is a defiance of invisibility. The Elder Zeitgeist expedition seeks to prove that elders are not "ornamental" or "past their prime." They are explorers, truth-tellers, and a vital part of our national fabric.
The Invisible Crisis;
While Mike sails through the remote Northwest Passage, thousands
of Canadian seniors are struggling to survive in the shadows. We are
currently witnessing a dual crisis:

Elder Abuse: Family violence against seniors in Canada has surged by nearly 50% in recent years, yet 80% of cases go unreported due to fear and isolation.

Elder Homelessness: One-third of all shelter users in Canada are now over the age of 50. Many are "first-time" homeless, forced onto the streets because fixed incomes cannot keep pace with the skyrocketing cost of living.
