Friends of the Arts in Brighton hasn't added a story.
Mike Struzik is retiring after 27 years in Brighton. During that time he taught instrumental music at every grade (4th – 12th), and established an exceptional and celebrated high school band program. In the past few years Mike has also served in the leadership position of Facilitator for the performing arts program 6-12. Mike has been dedicated to his students' musical excellence while also inspiring them to contribute positively to society and treat each other with kindness and compassion. Mike is moving on to serve on the Faculty at his alma mater, the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, where he will teach methods classes to future instrumental music teachers and supervise student teachers throughout central New York.
Friends of the Arts in Brighton (FAB) provides families, alumni, and colleagues a way to say thank you to retiring arts teachers. All contributions in honor of Mike Struzik will be donated back to BCSD to fund his chosen Legacy Project -- commissioning a piece for a BHS instrumental group to perform. Additional funds raised will be placed into a special BHS account that brings in visiting artists and otherwise enriches the experience of all students at BHS!
Please donate whatever you can, and leave a note for Mike in the comments!
