The Grant William Terrell Foundation had the pleasure of sponsoring what is expected to be Trey's last Christmas. As many of you know Grant passed away Christmas morning 2014 so this holds a lot of meaning for us. During our time being blessed by Trey's infectious smile we learned that his mother is in need of financial support during Trey's end stage fight of Proteus Syndrome.
It has already caused Trey to have an amputation of his left leg and left ring finger. Today it is causing many complications with the most severe being with his lungs. Leading up to Christmas we were told he only had 27 % lung capacity and had been decreasing by 7% a month. Recently this has stabilized, however, other vitals have dropped off canceling out any positives in this news.
His mom has been told that his condition requires a bilateral lung transplant within 9 months, however, he is not a candidate for transplant due to his condition.
His mom, Summer, is a single mom that is not able to work due to Trey's condition and constant need of a care taker and constant trips to doctor appointments. While his disability insurance covers all medical cost, it does not cover transportation and food. He is currently seeing doctor's in Ga and Missouri which is a causing a considerable financial strain.
We also had the unpleasant but much needed conversation of funeral expenses. It's not an easy thing to boldly question someone you just met on such a topic. However, we know to well the crippling expenses that lie ahead for her. Our goal is for this campaign to raise the needed funds for up coming funeral expenses and an added bonus would be to exceed our goal to help with travel expenses.
