Show Us Your Cans!

This is what we would be saying, loudly and proudly, to all who pass by Recycle Camp in Black Rock City (BRC). If we were in BRC. It has been a whole year and we are here again, in the virtual world, being AWESOME, and remembering how much we have endured.

In 2020, with no BRC, we decided to launch our first ever online fundraiser for the Gerlach K-12 School. We set our goal for $3,000 , the most we have been able to give from the rebates from the aluminum cans we collect from all of you during the event. Well, you all gave, and gave, and gave some more, and we reached $15,000!

The Gerlach K-12 School has survived and thrived through the last 18 months in part due to your generosity. Before we learned the news that BRC would not be built in 2021, we had planned to run an online fundraiser during the event, in addition to collecting cans on the Playa. To bring the opportunity of gifting to everyone, even those who wouldn’t be on the Playa with us. Well, we all know how that went. No event. No BRC. Well, guess what! That's right! Here we are, launching our second fundraiser for the Gerlach K-12 School! Won’t you please join us as we once again show our love and support for the students, the teachers and staff of the school.

Please help us raise $5,000 for the Gerlach K-12 School in a week. Every donation from $5 to $500 is important to us. And if you aren't able to give money, please share the fundraiser with your friends, family and camp mates. Spread the word, every share will help us reach our goal!

We are going to share more photos of the students in Gerlach. We also have a video to drop that was made by the students and is AWESOME! We will also share some facts about aluminum, aluminum cans and aluminum can recycling. Did you know that aluminum is on the Periodic Table of the Elements? Or that the atomic number of aluminum is 13? And like plastics are numbered #1-#7, aluminum is #41. We hope you will follow along to see and learn and witness as we reach our goal of $5,000 for the Gerlach K-12 School.

In this second year of virtual worlds and virtual Burning Man experiences, you will find us everywhere (share a link with your friends) from 9am (PDT) Sunday August 29th through 5pm (PDT) Sunday September 5th.

You can find Recycle Camp in the Multiverse in BRCvr throughout the event week and please join us Sunday night, August 29th at 8pm (PDT) for our annual Silver Party!
