Located in the Talamanca mountains, Cloudbridge Nature Reserve protects over 700 acres of biodiverse Cloud Forest.  Since it´s creation in 2002, Cloudbridge has been dedicated to not only restoring and stewarding this unique ecosystem, but also providing environmental education and the facilities for researchers to conduct scientific research.  We are proud to offer top-notch facilities and expert support to our researchers, and are now feeling ready to expand this support with more scientific equipment as well as the construction of a birdwatching tower upon the reserve.  Please help us achieve these goals with your charitable donation!  Cloud Forest Conservation Alliance is a US-based 501(c)3 non-profit, so any donations are tax-deductible in that country.

In addition to the purchase of scientific equipment such as microscopes and camera traps, this fundraising effort will be applied towards the implementation of environmental education in local schools and support for Costa Rican researchers.  The main projects we propose, for a total cost of $20,000 USD are as follows:

• Equipment for research lab: Total cost $4750. This includes the installation of a stainless steel sink and countertops ($1500), whiteboards and projector ($500), an oven for drying samples ($600), beakers and other crystalware ($500), a microscope ($1000) and a thermal-magnetic agitator ($650).
• Research equipment: Total cost $2050. This includes 6 camera traps with batteries ($600), a drone ($500), a GPS unit ($450), mist nets for birds and bats ($100), soil and infrared thermometers ($150) and 4 pairs of binoculars ($250)
• 3-month Scholarship for Costa Rican Researchers: Includes support from Cloudbridge staff, lodging and a small stipend for food. Our aim is to offer this opportunity to 3 participants ($3700 for 3 partipants).
• Environmental Education in local schools: Using the 8-module CONUBI program. Our aim is to offer this in 2 schools ($1500)
• A bird-watching tower on Cloudbridge Nature Reserve. Estimated cost: $8000

The research lab that was built thanks to generous donations is now an everyday workspace for our researchers, and has greatly improved the dynamics of our campus.
