City Harvest, Inc hasn't added a story.
Me on oxygen at 24,601' (7,498m) after summiting Cho Oyu in October 2016
Namaste!
I'm Patrick Mauro and for nearly 10 years I have proudly supported City Harvest as the organization combats hunger and food waste in New York City. While New York may be the greatest city in the world, the high cost of living leaves a staggering 1.4 million of my neighbors facing food insecurity. City Harvest tackles this problem by rescuing food from supermarkets and restaurants that would otherwise be discarded and delivering this food to community partners that directly help those in need. My tenure as chairperson of Generation Harvest, the organization's young philanthropists committee, and my work as a pro bono data science consultant have allowed me to see the scale and efficiency of City Harvest's operations first hand: The organization rescues and delivers over 150,000 pounds of food each day and is able to commit 93 cents of every dollar raised towards its programs.
When I'm not in the City supporting City Harvest, I spend my time worrying my mom whether by climbing mountains, flying planes, or racing sailboats. Years ago City Harvest indulged my request to receive a City Harvest flag to bring on my mountaineering expeditions, and I've been lucky to have taken the flag to the summits of some of the highest mountains in the United States and South America (Mt Whitney, Mt Rainier, Aconcagua, Chimborazo, Illimani) and to Cho Oyu, the sixth tallest mountain in the world. This spring I will be travelling to Nepal to attempt to climb Mt Everest and Lhotse, the #1 and #4 tallest mountains in the world, respectively, and I am honored to climb with the City Harvest flag on the expedition. But that's not all! I'm using this expedition as an excuse to ask you to join me in my support of the organization. Please help me raise $29,035 for City Harvest. That's $1 for every foot Mt Everest is tall. This will be enough money to feed over 300 people for a year by rescuing and delivering over 115,000 pounds of food.

I get to Nepal on March 25, and you can follow my expedition here:
