Let's face it, Artificial Intelligence is slowly and methodically creeping into our daily lives, from apps to websites to even in physical form; in robotics and hardware devices. And when it comes to the coding of the actual software of these products, well - AI has got that covered, too!

Let me introduce a little bit about myself. My name's Stephen, a Eugene, Oregon native, and founder and owner of Carrot🥕, a software development and design firm, servicing clients around the world, from large to small. We've helped companies like PG&E, ModifyHealth, KIA, NYU Langone Hospital, Lottery.com, American Gene Technology and many more create ground-breaking, life-saving and innovative software that their businesses rely on. On the other side, we help entrepreneurs and startups with professionally made user-friendly apps, websites or even VR/AR games, or whatever that they can dream up.

However, over the past two quarters, our sales have basically dropped off a cliff. After analyzing the data, you guessed it - it was due to the rise of artificial intelligence like we talked about before. But what does every good entrepreneur do? They evolve with the times.

So about a year and a half ago, at the brink of the introduction of AI development, I began to look into the future and realize this is where technology is headed. So it was off to the races with coming up with how AI, or an AI tool, could improve our contractor/subcontractor-style business model (similar to Upwork or Fiverr's structure) and make it easier for our customers.

After some research, granted I think I needed more in retrospect, I narrowed it down to an AI website generator and an AI Estimate Generator (which would generate a price and turnaround time for a software project). In the end after some debate, I went with an AI Estimate Generator, with my team of developers in mind, and how it would essentially save them time estimating a project before they started.

So we got to building and completed the AI tool around October of 2023. Well let's just say, it didn't attract new clients at all - they had simply confused the AI tool with an AI website generator. Visitors would even use the Estimate Generator, thinking it generated a website. I can't tell you how many negative keywords I had to add to my negative keyword list (for those of you who know what I am talking about) in Google Adwords pertaining to 'AI website generators'. In plain english, Google was showing my AI Estimate Generator to folks who were searching for an AI Website Generator, even when I had told Google not to by adding negative keywords. That's when I took a look at the data...

The search term, 'AI Website Generator' and related search terms ended up being the #1 most popular search query in the Website Development sector for Google Adwords, from September 2023 to February 2024. Aaand, number of searches for 'AI Estimate Generator'? Zilch.😭

A classic example of, 'I should've thought that one through!' All that work for nothing! I couldn't believe it. The amount of sinking I felt from that was unbearable. I had the right choice in my mind, went with the wrong one, and garnered 0 sales for 3 months because of it, leaving me with a loss of $60,000. The cash may have been lost, but not all hope was lost.


The only good news is, the development team and I will be be able to attach the Estimate Generator to the Website Generator (if built) and customers will be able to create virtually any custom website feature they would like with a human developer, after they have generated a website, using the AI estimate generator technology, thus bringing the two together in a very unique platform (compared to other AI website generator services). On the other hand, it will be more clear of how to use the AI Estimate Generator, once they have a website that they have generated to use the Estimate Generator, for additional custom features.

So please please PLEASE help me feel better about my royal mistake of creating the wrong AI tool, and help me make my dream a reality! We've helped countless clients in the past and left them with nothing but smiles. We hope to keep doing that with the merge fully to AI technology. From the bottom of my heart, I ask you to please help me recoup what I have lost so that we can build the last part of this crazy dream of mine, together!
