When we look at the future of Toronto Tabla Ensemble and what will be coming up in the next 5 years, we need to start with supporting the school and Toronto Tabla Youth Ensemble (TTYE).
The TTYE is made up of young Canadian musicians who use their traditional tabla training in a modern and contemporary style that have audiences listening and engaged.
Similar to the senior Toronto Tabla Ensemble (TTE), this Youth Ensemble aspires to incorporate other styles of music into their own work, but are taking an altered approach. By using the oral tradition and “language” of tabla, these young artists have incorporated the use of other percussion instruments, such as the drum set, to emulate the sounds and rhythms of tabla. Although the essence of the art form is rooted in Indian culture, this exploration of new horizons will certainly show that music has no borders.
In order to take themselves to a level of higher artistry, the TTYE is in need of funding to help grow and expand their organization. Your contribution would assist these young artists with
* Renting rehearsal spaces.
* Purchasing additional world and classical percussion instruments.
* Bringing in guest clinicians and experts of other styles of music to produce cross cultural collaborations, both at home and internationally.
* Produce their own singles and music videos.
Supporting the TTYE means investing into a prosperous future for the lives of the youth in Canada; current members will flourish and, in turn, will inspire others their age to join the program and become more involved in the arts.
Beyond the sounds, the training these young talents are receiving enrich their lives in many ways. The discipline from their consistent practice develops a structured, empowering environment, in which they gain confidence, teamwork skills, accountability, and a sense of identity and self. Members of the TTYE are being fully engaged by using their own creativities and voices to express themselves in a wholesome outlet that has the power to inspire all that hear them.
Through the Toronto Tabla Youth Ensemble, lives are being enriched to foster compassionate, and courageous individuals who will go on to be contributing members of the world.
