The Elton Goodwin Memorial Foundation was posthumously founded to honor the staggering legacy Elton Goodwin left the children of the South Kitsap community. A high school baseball coach and Special Needs Instructor for nearly 30 years, 'Coach' Goodwin bred just as many champions in the classroom, as he did on the field. He is a Hall of Fame inductee at the State level; is pending posthumous induction at the National level; and is publicly recognized as one of the Top 10 most influential high school coaches in Washington State history, regardless of sport.

Preaching ideals such as commitment, perseverance and self accountability, Elton served the role of not only a coach and educator, but that of 'father figure' to generations of children in our community; and whether he was patting your back or chewing your butt, he ended every conversation with a heartfelt "I love you man!"

In honoring his legacy, the Elton Goodwin Memorial Foundation supports the children of our community in a variety of ways. We annually issue (3) $1,000 college scholarships to graduating SKHS senior baseball players, special needs students, and future special needs educators. We passionately support youth athletics through the Elton Goodwin Fellowship Grant to three local SK Little Leagues, which provides league fees and equipment for children of low income families; and we actively raise funds for South Kitsap Special Olympics. We believe however that providing financial support in these areas is only half the battle; and through our private funding of improvements to athletic facilities at South Kitsap High School, we are able to also provide these student athletes with safe access to quality facilities and equipment by which to nurture their continued growth.
