Funeral service for Peter Thomas, 74, will be held at 11AM Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be Saturday from 8:30AM to 10:30AM in Fondel Chapel with a rosary at 9:30AM.
Peter Thomas, 74, was called home on January 17, 2015, in a local hospital. He was born in Grand Couteau, Louisiana on October 23, 1940 to the late Jules Johnson and Lillian Charles. He moved to Lake Charles where he united in marriage with Patricia Thomas on June 10, 1978, and he raised two daughters, Lashonda Johnson and Shomeka Johnson.
He worked at St. Patrick's Hospital for over 15 years as a Cook in the Dietary Department. Later, he worked for the Port of Lake Charles for over 25 years, providing a good life for his family before retiring in 2005. After retirement, he returned to work at the City of Lake Charles Water Division for 3 years.
Peter was a faithful member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where he was an active member with the Holy Name Society of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He attended and volunteered at varies churches in the Lake Charles area. Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church was one of the many churches he attended and volunteered on many occasions.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Theresa Antoine; three brothers, Joseph Charles, Anthony Charles and Jules Johnson.
Cherishing his memories are his wife, Patricia Johnson; two daughters, Lashonda Johnson of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Shomeka Johnson of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Velma Thomas of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Jean Beckett of Houston, Texas; six brothers, George Dean of California, James Thomas (Cynthia), Donald Charles (Karen), Alan Charles, and Kevin Charles (Azello) all of Lake Charles, Louisiana and a host of loving nieces, nephews, god children, other relatives and friends.
