I'm a terrible box ticker (part of my downfall) and when an oppoortunity came up to cycle to Paris with Pega, I simply couldn't resist. And the fact that it's for a hugely good cause supporting people suffering in Ukraine makes it all the more compelling.
Personally, I'm 100% a runner and borrowing and leaping on a (road) bike and starting training with 11 weeks to go (and all the new kit that goes with that - wow!) is not only a stretch challenge but also one of facing my fear.
Since childhood when my brother vaulted over his handlebars going downhill and skidded on the road surface on his face in front of me, even all these years later I've got a definite ongoing fear of falling off, especially downhill.
I'm very much tackling that ride by ride and quietening that voice in my head. So, any support I have with the fundraising will spur me on and hopefully get me to Paris on within time and in one piece - thank you!
Even though you may not hear about it as much anymore, the war in
Ukraine rages on, with a huge impact on the daily lives of millions of
people. Continuing with the Pega tradition of helping those in need, a
group of us will cycle from London to Paris to raise funds for
Fundacja Widowisk Masowych, which is a charity close to one of our
Polish employees. Every day they load from 4 to 7 trucks weighing 20
tons and send them across the border from Poland to Ukraine, providing
medicines and protective gear for those in need!
This is a small gesture compared to the overall situation but
will have a real impact on the lives of dozens, if not hundreds of
people and your contribution will be greatly appreciated!
