Providing Opportunites for Equine-Related Activities
Gaitway to Equine Experiences Foundation ~~We believe in the healing benefits of horses to improve the lives of those in our community. We wish to ensure that all who wish to benefit by participating in a diverse range of equine related activities, are not hindered by lack of funds or access.
Gaitway purpose is to supplement costs for maintaining horses, programs and to enable individuals, regardless of age or ability, to participate in equine experiences. Many of our riders have a wide variety of special needs and we love to see them interact with horses in many different ways.
Our clients depend on having happy, healthy horses to be their partners in their growth, learning and development. And to provide some fun times together.
The benifits of being with horses goes beyond simply sitting and riding! The costs to maintain a great herd of horse is very high. We look for horses that are well gaited with a smooth 4-beat gait that aid the rider in building confidence and balance. The horses must be maintained in good health with sufficient hay and supplements, regulare health routines, and hoof care. This all adds up to a lot of $$!
Bandit and Wrangler are our mini helpers! They love to help people feel comfortable and teach many to lead and groom a horse. Wrangler also teaches people how to drive a cart. These little guys need lots of good care to do their job.
Cherish, Wendy, Velvet and Whoopie are our main "big" horses. The quickly adapt themselves to their riders and give all a nice experience. Horses used for people with special needs do a lot of hard work, physically and mentally.
Smokey and Ace are quarter horses that are used in Equine Guided Education lessons. They are wonderful at helping people with critical thinking and creative problem solving.
Upcoming horses are Champ and Nuget. These young horses are in training for riding and already work with some clients in leading and grooming. Growing horses need great nutrition!
As the program continues to serve and grow, there is a need for purchases of new horses.
YOU CAN HELP with donating to our Horse Maintence Expence fund. Your money will pay their upkeep including hay, feed, vet, hoof trims, board costs and other various cost associated with keeping a herd of Equine Helpers.
