WAG is a not for profit animal shelter located in Whistler, BC. We have been rescuing homeless and lost animals in the Sea to Sky Corridor for over 30 years. WAG is a valued part of the community and gives back in many ways.

We are currently looking to raise money to host our second year of monthly animal wellness clinics, in conjunction with Mount Currie Band and the Pemberton Vet Clinic. These Wellness Clinics offer education, low cost veterinarian exams, vaccinations, parasite control, and vouchers towards spay or neuter surgeries to the Mount Currie community.

These Animal Wellness Clinics will focus primarily on:

Vaccinations:

Unvaccinated puppies are at high risk for contracting many diseases, such as Parvovirus; a potentially lethal disease which is prevalent in this area. Vaccines boost the immune system, allowing for recovery and survival. They even prevent them from inheriting the virus in utero from a positive mother.

Magpie was surrendered to WAG last summer with her puppies after being vaccinated at our Wellness Clinic. Magpie's previous puppies had died of Parvovirus, but thanks to last summer’s vaccinations, this last litter survived! Magpie and her babies, Grouse, Raven, Kestrel, Sparrow, Owl, Robin, and Osprey, are all thriving in their new Forever Homes.

Veterinary Exam:

For many people, especially in remote areas, accessing regular veterinary care can be a challenge. By bringing the vet into their community, we help ensure that sick animals are identified and treated, and help prevent further injuries, disease, illness, and death.

Parasite Control:

Many serious and lethal ailments are transmitted and spread through Parasites, both external, such a fleas, and internal, such as intestinal worms. Treatment of these parasites is an easy and cost effective way to increase disease control and minimize animal suffering.

Low cost spays and neuter surgeries:

Homeless and unwanted animals are the reason shelters exist. Our dream is for a world where our facilities are not needed, and to help control the unwanted pet population, we offering vouchers for low cost spay and neuter programs.

Overpopulation of homeless dogs can lead to many issues, such as pack aggression, mating aggression, and unwanted litters being born with no one to care for them. Many dogs and puppies do not survive.

Henry was found with his intestines hanging out of his body after being attacked by a pack of stray dogs. Thankfully he was rescued and brought to WAG, where he made a miraculous and full recovery!

Olive arrived at WAG at the senior age of 9, with three tiny puppies. Unfortunately, Olive also had multiple large tumors on her breasts, and one in her vulva. She underwent major surgery, had them removed, and we are hoping for a full recovery!

Education:

Animal health and welfare education is integral to maintaining the health and wellbeing of our pets and our community.

Donations to this fund will be used for:

-Spay and Neuter Funding

-Vaccines and Medical Equipment

-Parasite Control (Advantage)

-Educational Material

-Administration and Implementation of clinics
