Calla, is a very shy, beautiful and gentle, 2 year old dog that was living on the streets of south Tucson. "Calla" means beautiful but so far her life hasn't lived up to her name. Calla was found cowering and scared and her right rear leg wasn't able to move. She welcomed the animal control officer picking her up and putting her in his truck. You see, Calla was fighting for her life and wanted a caring human to help her. She has valley fever that was eating away at her bones and severe hip dysplasia and with all that Calla was malnourished and weak.
Although she was loved at the shelter she quickly deteriorated due to her fear of all the noises and sleeping on the cold cement floor. Her bones began to hurt more and more and this house trained girl gave up on surviving and would urinate on herself and often refused to eat. Tucson Cold Wet Noses was contacted and asked to save Calla before she died in the shelter. We pulled Calla and now have her in a calm and caring foster home but our work is not done. Calla needs hip surgery in order to walk and this 2 year old girl deserves to run, play and live a full life!
