The medical prognosis for this beautiful girl’s eye is the worst case scenario. After an extensive medical evaluation it has been determined that Karma is blind in the left eye and the eye must be surgically removed immediately. More ...
Karma has been diagnosed with glaucoma and had it been treated 2 years ago when she had been adopted out by the NYC shelter, she would be fine today. We are heartsick for this girl who loves everyone and everything she meets because CCR has been informed that not only does the eye need to be removed but Karma has been in constant pain for the last two years.
Karma history: Two years ago an awesome well-mannered Karma was surrendered to the Brooklyn shelter. Normal protocol is that any Cane Corso that comes into a NYC shelter is turned over to rescue UNLESS the dog has a perfect safer evaluation. In this case, the NYC shelter adopts the dog without notification to the rescue. You got it…Karma had a PERFECT safer evaluation and was adopted to a local family who neglected her medical needs requiring her to live in constant pain for the last two years. In addition to this abuse, the family was contacted when Karma was found as a stray on the streets of New York City. The owner did nothing and made no attempt to claim her. We can only assume she was purposely released to the streets to fend for herself, which would have ultimately ended in her demise. With Karma’s medical needs, age of 7 years, and lack of interest by said owner…she was scheduled to be euthanized. Fortunately a few advocates and shelter volunteers rallied for this girl. Understanding the outstanding temperament of this Corso and the previous wrong doing, they pleaded for CCR to save her life. Karma was saved minutes prior to her scheduled departure.
Unfortunately, Karma had to be placed in a kennel for a few days until a foster could be found. Much of the $300 in pledges has gone to her kennel care and medical evaluation. CCR needs your help once again; we need to raise $800 so Karma can have the eye surgically removed. We give our sincerest appreciation to the vet who is willing to relieve Karma of the constant pain at such a discounted price. Unfortunately, with the on slaughter of surrendered Corsos, CCR has exhausted our bank account. The only way Karma can have the surgery is if we can raise the funds needed. Every day that goes by is a risk to her other eye. Although this eye’s pressure is normal, she needs eye drops administered daily to ensure the pressure remains at normal levels. In order for Karma to get adopted, CCR will need to provide the adopter with financial assistance or the medication since it will be a daily requirement for the remainder of her life.
Any assistance you can provide in raising the $1,000 for surgery will be greatly appreciated by Karma and the many wonderful people who have fallen in love with her. Karma is one dynamic Corso who is worth every penny. CCR has no reservation in saving her life; we just need financial assistance in getting her the surgery as soon as possible. Donations toward Karma’s surgery can be made via paypal,, or via this website
