Colombia Needs Us: Let’s Help Rebuild
Today, Colombia needs our help.
Following the powerful earthquake that struck on August 10, 2026, several communities are facing moments of anguish and uncertainty. Buildings have suffered severe damage, and some structures have collapsed. Behind each of them, there may be entire families, children, and people who need to be located, rescued, and assisted.
While emergency response teams work to assess the damage and assist affected communities, thousands of people are waiting for news about their loved ones and facing the uncertainty of not knowing what will happen in the coming hours.
The 7.4-magnitude earthquake was centered near San José del Palmar, Chocó, and was felt across much of the country. Among the areas reporting damage are Pereira, Cali, Manizales, and Quibdó, as well as other communities across Colombia’s Coffee Region and western regions.
For communities in Chocó, especially those closest to the epicenter, the situation is particularly concerning. Authorities, emergency response organizations, and local communities continue working to determine the full extent of the damage and reach those who need help.

At Fundación Urdimbres de Bienestar, we believe that no community should have to face an emergency of this magnitude alone.
