To live in hearts of those you loved is not to die...

Michelle's Love

To live in hearts of those you loved is not to die…

I typically start this fundraiser by speaking about my mom and I of course will. This year is different though. If you did not know I lost my dad this year. While growing up without a mother has never been easy, it has been my life. Losing my father felt different, he is all that I knew in every sense of those words. This year and every year thereafter I will be raising money in both of their honors.

When I was six years old I lost my mom to breast cancer. I am now 46 and the loss from her passing and growing up without a mother is something I still deal with on a daily basis. I often think of her and what role she would have played in my life.

Since I was so young when she died I never got to know her as a person. Things as simple as what did her voice sound like, what kind of music did she like, would she enjoy watching movies as much as I do, and what types of conversations would we have?

As the years pass and my mom's memory fades I am only left with pictures of her, stories of her, or a fleeting memory that I have held onto. I strive to keep the memory of my mom alive and strong. I also hope that other children do not have to try and keep their memories alive but instead keep making new memories. That is my story.

This year I am back again and committing to riding 1000 miles in the month of October on my peloton bike. All money donated will go to Michelle’s Love (a non-profit that supports single parents going through cancer treatment). https://michelleslove.org/

I have done many fundraising events for my mom and in those 17 years you have all assisted in raising over $39,000. To me this is just beyond any expectations I ever held when I first started doing this. This year my goal is to reach $3,000, and I know that we can do it. Please help with whatever donation that you can, whether it be $1 or $100 every bit means so much.

Again I thank you for your help in this cause, it really means so much to me in so many ways. If you know of anyone that may be interested in donating please do not hesitate in forwarding this to them.

Thank you,

Chad Cancro
