Over the past 23 years it has been my honor to come alongside hundreds of diaspora (immigrant and refugee) Christian leaders from around the world. We have learned from one another, wept, rejoiced, cooperated, and collaborated in myriad ways. All to express and expand the beautiful Kingdom of God, on earth as it is in heaven.
In late 2019, I transitioned from my IM Director role to EGC Sr. Consultant in intercultural ministry, leadership health, and organizational development. The kind of consulting I do doesn’t often draw the big payouts that it would if I were working for a big corporation. My passion is to support grassroots leaders and efforts. Because these spaces often involve working alongside leaders, churches, and organizations without much cash, I need ongoing financial support to continue this critical work.
As a donor-supported staff member of a Christian non-profit, I have always relied on support from those who believe in my work. In some cases, I have provided consulting services for which I have been paid. Still, the primary way I have been sustained over all these years is by individuals and churches who support me with regular and occasional financial support. Each year, I trust God to put the puzzle pieces of support together to make ends meet. I have also sought to use whatever influence I have to leverage support for diaspora leaders with less funding access. This year-end campaign is an integral part of that equation.
This year, I am seeking to raise $16,000 in this year-end campaign to
support our work in the coming year. The funds raised help me continue
this work without overburdening those I seek to serve. And
some great news! A generous donor has offered us the first donation
of $1,000 to get us moving in the right direction toward our goal.
I know that some friends are not in a position to
give financially, so we heed this helpful guidance from the Apostle Paul:
"And in this matter I give my advice. For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have. Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need."
