Bernie has had a rough life...

We ran into this little man who was running the streets of LA while on another rescue errand.  The neighbor informed us that he's been a stray for many months and has been 'stealing my dogs food'.  Bernie was being shooed away hastily and was very skittish.  The man also told us that animal control has not been successful in catching Bernie, so we knew we had a challenge at hand.   Much to our surprise, Bernie welcomed being rescued and only took a handful of food and a kind voice to allow us to put a leash on him.  Once we got to hold him, we saw that he was severely matted, very skinny and infested with fleas.  No way for any animal to live.  He was happy to be off to his new life of love!

Since taking this guy into rescue he's been a complete joy to have at our sanctuary!  We got him all cleaned up, vaccinated and began socializing him with the other rescue pets. Bernie is clearly delighted to not be a street dog anymore!  

Now this fella is ready to be neutered and will continue to thrive in rescue until a forever home is found for him!   We need your help with funding his care as the rescue is already very overwhelmed with vet bills.  Please consider a donation to help Bernie on his way to recovery and a forever family!
